Leader of KADU from its founding in 1960, he argued for a federal Kenya — and then wound his own party up in 1964 rather than entrench the division.
Ronald Ngala was a Kenyan politician and statesman who led the Kenya African Democratic Union from its creation in 1960 until its dissolution in 1964.
KADU argued for a federal constitution protecting smaller communities against domination by the larger ones. When that argument was lost, Ngala took his party into KANU rather than sustain the split, and served in government until his death in 1972.
